Brazil's Amazonia theaters inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Two theaters in the Brazilian Amazon were designated as World Cultural Heritage Sites by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on Monday.
The Teatro Amazonas in the city of Manaus and the Theatro da Paz in Belem were both built during the height of the rubber boom, in grand European style in the late 19th century, and reflect the prosperity of the Amazon's Golden Age.
The decision to grant the theaters UNESCO World Heritage status was made during the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee, held in Busan, the Republic of Korea, making them the first cultural sites in northern Brazil to receive this international recognition.
Trump threatens "strong military action" if Iran talks fail
U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that he decided to pause U.S. strikes on Iran in order to give negotiations another chance, while warning that he could order a restart of strikes if talks with Iran fail.
"We are in very deep talks with Iran. If they don't work out, we will go back to very strong military action," Trump said in an interview with U.S. online news outlet Axios.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a presidential decree to boost the number of servicemen in the Russian Armed Forces by 25,000, according to information published Monday on the official portal for legal acts.
In June, the president set the authorized strength of the Russian Armed Forces at 2,399,130 personnel, including 1,510,000 servicemen.

Jordanian FM, UN chief meet on regional developments
Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met here on Monday over the latest regional developments, Jordan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The two sides stressed the need to uphold the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, resume negotiations to address the root causes of tensions, and ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the statement.
On the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, Safadi urged the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire plan, the lifting of Israeli restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid, and greater international efforts to halt Israeli operations in the West Bank, the statement read.
