URUMQI, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) — For more than 30 years, railway maintenance workers in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have battled winds in the Gobi Desert to ensure safe rail operations.
On strong windy days, they had to remove sand from the rails by shovels.
Now, with the help of new technology and windbreak facilities, the situation has changed.
