Chinese community in Myanmar celebrates Year of Horse in Yangon
YANGON, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) — The Chinese community in Myanmar celebrated the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse, at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on Saturday.
More than 1,500 people, including Vice Chairman of Myanmar’s State Security and Peace Commission Vice Senior General Soe Win, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia, high-ranking officials, ambassadors from various countries to Myanmar, overseas Chinese, representatives of Chinese-funded institutions, and friends from all walks of life, participated in the celebration.
Soe Win extended Chinese New Year greetings to the overseas Chinese community in Myanmar, noting that the “Pauk-Phaw” friendship between Myanmar and China is deep-rooted and cooperation in various fields continues to deepen.
He thanked China for its earthquake relief assistance and support for Myanmar’s peace process. Myanmar adheres to the one-China policy and looks forward to more cooperation with China after the establishment of the new government.
Ma Jia said that under the guidance of high-level leadership, China-Myanmar bilateral relations reached new heights in 2025, with the “Pauk-Phaw” friendship between the two nations remaining as strong as ever.
The active involvement of the Chinese community in earthquake relief efforts has vividly embodied the spirit of the China-Myanmar community with a shared future, she added.
She expressed her hope that the overseas Chinese community would continue to serve as a bridge and bond between the two countries, helping to write a new chapter of bilateral friendship.
