Fighter jet crash kills pilot in southwestern Russia

MOSCOW, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) — A Russian MiG-29 jet fighter crashed on Wednesday during a scheduled flight in the southwestern Astrakhan Region, local media reported.

“On August 18, 2021, a MiG-29 plane crashed during a planned flight in the Astrakhan Region. The plane crashed in a deserted place on the territory of the Ashuluk range,” Sputnik reported, citing Russia’s Southern Military District.

The flight was carried out without ammunition and the pilot died, it said.A commission of the High Command of the Aerospace Forces was sent to the site of the crash to establish the causes of the accident, it added. Enditem
