Liverpool extends lead, Fulham stuns Chelsea in Premier League
Liverpool extended its lead at the top of the Premier League after coming back from a goal down to win 3-1 at home to Leicester City on Thursday.
The last match on a busy Boxing Day fixture list kicked off with Jordan Ayew putting Leicester ahead after just six minutes.
Leicester held on until first half injury time when Cody Gakpo scored a stunning shot that curled into the far corner of the goal from outside the penalty area, and Curtis Jones turned in Alexis Mac Allister’s cross four minutes into the second half to put Liverpool ahead.
Mohamed Salah assured the win eight minutes from time after a smart pass from Gakpo allowed him to slide the ball into the far corner of the net.
Fulham stunned second-place Chelsea with a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge – its first there in the league since 1979.

Palmeiras in talks to sign Andreas Pereira
Brazil international midfielder Andreas Pereira is close to joining Palmeiras from English Premier League side Fulham, according to widespread media reports.
The Brazilian Serie A club presented an offer of 20 million euros (around 21 million U.S. dollars) to secure the 28-year-old in January 2025, Globo Esporte said on Thursday.
It added that Pereira’s representatives were confident that a deal would be completed in the coming days.

Gao Xinyu will face the formidable challenge of replacing women’s world No. 5 Zheng Qinwen when she partners with Zhang Zhizhen, China’s highest-ranked men’s player, at the season-opening United Cup starting on Dec. 27.
