မျိုးသုဉ်းပျောက်ကွယ်မည့်အန္တရာယ် အရေးတကြီးကြုံတွေ့နေရသော မဲခေါင်မြစ်ဧရာဝတီလင်းပိုင်များကို ကာကွယ်စောင့်ရှောက်၊ ထိန်းသိမ်းရေးအတွက် စုပေါင်း၍ ကြိုးပမ်းအားထုတ်မှုများလုပ်ဆောင်ရန် ကမ္ဘောဒီးယားနိုင်ငံ ပြန်ကြားရေးဝန်ကြီး Neth Pheaktra က မတ် ၉ ရက်၌ ပြောကြားခဲ့သည်။
“ဇီဝမျိုးစုံမျိုးကွဲများကြွယ်ဝတဲ့ မဲခေါင်မြစ်ကို ကာကွယ်စောင့်ရှောက်ဖို့အတွက် မဲခေါင်မြစ်ကြောင်းတစ်လျှောက်မှာရှိတဲ့ အဲဒီမျိုးသုဉ်းပျောက်ကွယ်လုနီးပါး လင်းပိုင်တွေကို ကာကွယ်ရေးနဲ့ ထိန်းသိမ်းစောင့်ရှောက်ရေးမှာ ပါဝင်ကြဖို့ နိုင်ငံသားတွေနဲ့ ဒေသခံအာဏာပိုင်တွေကို တိုက်တွန်းပါတယ်” ဟု ၎င်းက ဆိုသည်။
ဒေသခံရပ်ရွာလူထုအနေဖြင့်လည်း လင်းပိုင်များက ပြည်တွင်းရော ပြည်ပခရီးသွားဧည့်သည်များကိုပါ အဓိက ဆွဲဆောင်မှုဖြစ်သည့်အတွက် ကာကွယ်ထိန်းသိမ်းခြင်းအားဖြင့် အကျိုးကျေးဇူးများစွာ ဖြစ်ထွန်းမည်ဟု Pheaktra က ပြောခဲ့သည်။
“ခရီးသွားဧည့်သည်တွေက ဒီရေချိုနို့တိုက်သတ္တဝါတွေကို ကြည့်ရှုဖို့ နေ့တိုင်းလာကြတယ်။ သူတို့ခရီးစဉ်တွေကနေ ဒေသခံတွေအတွက် အလုပ်တွေနဲ့ ဝင်ငွေတွေလည်း ရတာပေါ့” ဟု ၎င်းက ပြောခဲ့သည်။
မဲခေါင်မြစ် ဧရာဝတီလင်းပိုင်များကို အပြည်ပြည်ဆိုင်ရာ သဘာဝထိန်းသိမ်းစောင့်ရှောက်ရေးအဖွဲ့ (IUCN) ၏ အသက်အန္တရာယ်ခြိမ်းခြောက်ခံနေရသောမျိုးစိတ်များ အနီရောင်စာရင်းတွင် မျိုးသုဉ်းပျောက်ကွယ်မည့်အန္တရာယ် အရေးတကြီးကြုံတွေ့နေရသော မျိုးစိတ်များအဖြစ် ၂၀၀၄ ခုနှစ်က ထည့်သွင်းထားခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။ (Xinhua)

Cambodian minister urges joint efforts to preserve rare Mekong River dolphins
KRATIE, Cambodia, March 10 (Xinhua) — Cambodian Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra on Sunday called for concerted efforts to protect and preserve critically endangered Mekong River Irrawaddy dolphins.
“We urge citizens and local authorities to join in protecting and preserving these endangered dolphins along the Mekong River in order to preserve the rich biodiversity of the Mekong River,” he said.
Pheaktra said local communities would have greatly benefited from conservation because dolphins had been a key attraction for both domestic and international tourists.
“Tourists have come to visit these freshwater mammals every day, and their visits have generated jobs and income for local people,” he said.
The Mekong River Irrawaddy dolphins have been listed as critically endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species since 2004.
