26th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competition kicks off in Nay Pyi Taw
YANGON, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) — The 26th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competition kicked off in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday, the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, acting president of Myanmar, said that Myanmar has been able to preserve and showcase its cultural and artistic traditions, which have flourished since ancient times. This reflects the nation’s dignity and stature on the world stage.
He said Myanmar still possesses its traditional cultural heritage today due to the efforts of ancestors, who discovered, preserved, promoted, and handed down these traditions throughout Myanmar’s history.
He emphasized that it is the national duty of the younger generations to continue preserving and promoting Myanmar’s unique cultural roots and values, following the good traditions of the past and ensuring they do not fade away.
A total of 1,661 contestants are participating in various events at the national level of the traditional cultural performing arts competition, the report said. ■
