Edwards returns to Wolves as head coach
LONDON, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) — Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially confirmed the appointment of Rob Edwards as the club’s new head coach.
“Rob Edwards is the new Wolves head coach, having signed a three-and-a-half-year deal,” the Premier League club said in a statement on Wednesday.
Edwards succeeds Vitor Pereira and faces the immediate challenge of steering Wolves away from relegation, with the Midlands side having collected just two points from its opening 11 league matches.
The former Luton Town manager joins Wolves, where he made 111 appearances as a player, from Middlesbrough after lengthy negotiations between the two clubs.
Edwards’ coaching resume includes leading Luton to the Premier League in 2023 and a brief stint at Watford. Under his recent stewardship, Middlesbrough has emerged as a strong contender for promotion, currently sitting second in the Championship. ■
