Successful shoulder operation for Moto GP world champion Marquez
MADRID, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) — Moto GP World Champion, Marc Marquez has had a successful operation on the injured right shoulder blade that he suffered in his crash in Indonesia on October 5.
Marquez had the operation at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid, Spain after his medical team decided it was needed to stabilize the injury and repair ligament damage.
The Spaniard already has this year’s Moto GP title in the bag after winning in Japan at the end of September and has now won seven Moto GP crowns.
He will certainly miss the Australian and Malaysian Moto GP races, but depending on how his injury progresses, Marquez has a chance of competing in Portugal between November 7 to 9, before the season ends in front of his home fans in Valencia the following week.
The rider posted a message on social media after his operation, showing him smiling with his arm in a sling: “The surgery is finished, everything worked well. Thanks for everything: I’m now in recovery mode, but don’t forget. WE ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS,” he wrote. ■
