Bellingham, Foden recalled by England as Scott earns first call-up
LONDON, Nov. 7 (Xinhua)
England manager Thomas Tuchel has recalled Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden to his squad for next week’s World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, while Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has been handed his first senior England call-up.
Tuchel continued to exclude Brighton striker Danny Welbeck, while Jack Grealish, currently on loan at Everton from Manchester City, and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold were both left out of the squad.
Bellingham missed England’s October fixtures as he recovered from shoulder surgery. Foden, meanwhile, returns after being omitted from the last three squads, with his most recent appearance coming in March against Latvia.
“We are delighted they are back. Their contribution to the club lately was immense. They play regularly and play a big role in success of Real Madrid and Manchester City. They’ve scored decisive goals regularly. We are delighted they are in form and back with us,” Tuchel said on the return of the two players.
England has already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup following a 5-0 win over Latvia last month. It will host Serbia on November 13, before traveling to Albania three days later for its final Group K match.
These matches will mark England’s last competitive games before next summer’s World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States. ■
