Thailand’s auto production rises 14.17 pct in October

Thailand’s auto production grew for a second consecutive month in October, mainly driven by a surge in battery electric passenger vehicles, data from the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) showed on Tuesday.
Thai auto manufacturers produced 135,685 vehicles last month, up 14.17 percent from a year earlier, according to the FTI.
The increase was mainly due to the accelerated domestic production of electric vehicles (EVs) to offset earlier imports under the government’s tax reduction and subsidy, said FTI Automotive Industry Club spokesperson Surapong Paisitpattanapong.

For the first 10 months of 2025, auto production fell 2.84 percent over the same period last year to 1,211,486 units, dragged down by the discontinuation of some fuel-powered passenger car models, particularly those for exports, Surapong told a news conference.
Domestic auto sales climbed in October, up 24.78 percent year-on-year to 47,032 units, thanks to a robust surge in pure and hybrid EVs, Surapong said.
The Southeast Asian country’s finished car exports shrank 1.51 percent from a year earlier to 83,064 units in October, despite a significant growth in shipments of hybrid EVs, he noted. ■
