GLOBALink | “Wall-E”-like robot helps check safety at coal mine in China
Chinese energy company Jinneng Holding Group is employing a robot to carry out regular inspections for dangerous gas in an underground coal mining area in north China’s Shanxi Province.
The robot is nicknamed “Wall-E” as it resembles the title character of Pixar’s animated movie of the same name.

It can walk at a maximum speed of 1.5 meters per second in the mine shaft, with a continuous walking time of no less than two hours.
Through remote control, the robot can carry out a series of work including on-site environmental detection and capture audio and video.
