STORY: Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin brought to Westminster Hall for Lying-in-State

Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin left Buckingham Palace and arrived at Westminster Palace on Tuesday, where the late Queen will lie in state for the public to pay respects in the following four days.

On the Queen’s final departure from Buckingham Palace, her four children, led by King Charles III, walked behind the coffin. Thousands of people lined the route, many wiping away tears, some clapping and cheering for the country’s longest-reigning monarch.

According to the funeral arrangement released by Buckingham Palace, the Lying-in-State of Queen Elizabeth II will take place in Westminster Hall at the Westminster Palace, also known as the Houses of Parliament.

The Lying-in-State opens to the public 24 hours a day from 5 p.m. on Wednesday to 6.30 a.m. on Monday.

The State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will take place at Westminster Abbey on Sept. 19.
