Xi extends congratulations to Papua New Guinea’s governor-general over 50th anniversary of independence
BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday extended congratulations to Bob Dadae, governor-general of Papua New Guinea, over the country’s 50th anniversary of independence.
In his congratulatory message, Xi said that over the past 50 years since its independence, Papua New Guinea has achieved remarkable accomplishments in economic and social development.
Xi noted that over the 49 years since China and Papua New Guinea established diplomatic ties, the two countries have supported each other and forged ahead hand in hand on their development paths, which has improved the well-being of the two peoples, and promoted regional stability and prosperity.
Xi added that China attaches great importance to the growth of China-Papua New Guinea relations, and stands ready to work with Dadae to enhance political mutual trust, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to new heights to better benefit the two peoples.
