နိုင်ငံတကာ အိုလံပစ်ကော်မတီ (IOC) နှင့် ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံတို့က ယခုနှစ်တွင် တိုကျိုအိုလံပစ်ကို ကျင်းပမည်ဖြစ်ကြောင်း ထပ်လောင်းပြောကြားခဲ့ပြီး အိုလံပစ်ပွဲ ပယ်ဖျက်နိုင်ဖွယ်ရှိကြောင်း သတင်းကို ဇန်နဝါရီ ၂၂ ရက်က ငြင်းဆိုခဲ့ကြောင်း သိရသည်။

“ဂျပန်အစိုးရက ကိုရိုနာဗိုင်းရပ်စ်ကြောင့် တိုကျိုအိုလံပစ်ပွဲကို ပယ်ဖျက်ဖို့ သီးခြားဆုံးဖြတ်ခဲ့တယ်ဆိုပြီး ဒီနေ့မှာ သတင်းတချို့ထွက်နေပါတယ်။ ဒါက လုံးဝမမှန်ပါဘူး” ဟု ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံ အစိုးရက ထုတ်ပြန်ချက်တွင် ပြောကြားထားသည်။

ပြီးခဲ့သည့်နှစ် ဇူလိုင်လတွင် ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့သော IOC အမှုဆောင်ဘုတ်အဖွဲ့အစည်းအဝေး၌ ၂၀၂၀ တိုကျို အိုလံပစ် အားကစားပွဲ ဖွင့်ပွဲအခမ်းအနားကို ယခုနှစ် ဇူလိုင် ၂၃ ရက်၌ ပြုလုပ်မည်ဟု သဘောတူခဲ့ကြောင်း၊ အားကစားပွဲအတွက် အစီအစဉ်နှင့် နေရာများအား လျော်ညီစွာ ပြန်လည်စီစဥ်ရေးဆွဲခဲ့ကြောင်း၊ ပါဝင်တဲ့အဖွဲ့အစည်းတွေအားလုံးကလည်း ယခုနှစ် နွေရာသီတွင် အောင်မြင်သော အားကစားပွဲဖြစ်လာစေရန် အတူတကွ ပြင်ဆင်လုပ်ဆောင်လျက်ရှိကြောင်း သိရသည်။

“ဖြစ်နိုင်သမျှ COVID-19 တိုက်ဖျက်ရေး တန်ပြန်အစီအစဉ်တွေအားလုံးကို အကောင်အထည်ဖော်သွားမှာဖြစ်ပြီး ဒီနှစ်နွေရာသီမှာ ဘေးကင်း လုံခြုံစိတ်ချမှုရှိတဲ့ အားကစားပွဲဖြစ်ဖို့ ပြင်ဆင်ရာမှာ IOC ၊ ၂၀၂၀ တိုကျို အိုလံပစ် ကျင်းပရေးကော်မတီနဲ့ တိုကျိုမြို့တော် အစိုးရတို့နဲ့လည်း အနီးကပ် ဆက်လက်လုပ်ဆောင်သွားပါမယ်” ဟု ထုတ်ပြန်ချက်၌ ဖော်ပြထားသည်။

ထို့ပြင် “IOC အနေနဲ့ ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံက မိတ်ဖက်အဖွဲ့များ၊ မိတ်ဆွေများနဲ့ အတူတကွ ဒီနှစ်မှာ ၂၀၂၀ တိုကျို အိုလံပစ်နဲ့ မသန်စွမ်းအိုလံပစ် ပွဲတော်ကို အောင်မြင်စွာ ကျင်းပနိုင်ဖို့ အပြည့်အဝ အာရုံစိုက်ပြီး လုပ်ဆောင်သွားဖို့ ကတိပြုထားပါတယ်” ဟု IOC က ပြောကြားခဲ့သည်။ (Xinhua)

Japan and IOC deny Tokyo Olympic cancellation report

GENEVA, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) — The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Japan reiterated on Friday their commitment to hosting the Tokyo Olympics this year and denied a report of a possible cancellation.
“Some news reports circulating today are claiming that the Government of Japan has privately concluded that the Tokyo Olympics will have to be cancelled because of the coronavirus. This is categorically untrue,” said the Japanese government in the statement.
“At an IOC Executive Board meeting in July last year, it was agreed that the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 would be held on July 23 this year, and the program and venues for the Games were rescheduled accordingly. All parties involved are working together to prepare for a successful Games this summer.
“We will be implementing all possible countermeasures against COVID-19 and will continue to work closely with the IOC, the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in our preparations for holding a safe and secure Games this summer.”
The IOC said “together with its Japanese partners and friends, the IOC is fully concentrated on and committed to the successful delivery of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 this year.” Enditem
