Over 100 driverless taxis from Baidu in commercial operation in Wuhan
More than 100 driverless taxis from China’s tech giant Baidu are in commercial operation in the central city of Wuhan.
The number of fully driverless taxis run by Apollo Go, Baidu’s autonomous ride-hailing platform has exceeded 100 in Wuhan, central China, said the tech firm and Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information on Tuesday.
The city currently has over 750 kilometers of smart and internet-connected test roads for the commercial operation of autonomous driving vehicles.
Covering an area of about 530 square kilometers, the robotaxi service in Wuhan can reach a population of nearly 1.5 million.
