Foreign capital spurs new vitality in China’s auto industry cradle
Northeast China’s Jilin Province has been optimizing its business environment for foreign investors.
Global automakers and auto parts manufacturers have benefited from the efforts.
Kumho Tire is one of the largest tire makers in South Korea.
It started a subsidiary in Changchun, the capital of Jilin, about two decades ago.
Today, it aims to launch new products for new energy vehicles.

“We are striving to develop tires suitable for new energy vehicles produced by Chinese automakers. We are expected to produce about 3.8 million tires this year.”
The workshop of German powertrain company Vitesco Technologies in Changchun is operating at full capacity to catch up with rising orders.
Since 2020, it has invested more than 500 million yuan (72.5 million U.S. dollars) in the Changchun workshop, where its R&D team has increased to 330 people.
