4 patients dead in hospital fire in India’s Mumbai
MUMBAI, April 28 (Xinhua) — At least four patients have died at a private hospital in Mumbra on the outskirts of India’s financial capital Mumbai, after a fire broke out early morning at 3:40 a.m. local time on Wednesday.
According to local police, four patients died while 20 patients from the hospital were shifted to a nearby hospital after the fire broke out.
Two fire engines and one rescue vehicle were at the spot. Fire had been brought under control and cooling operations were currently on, said a local police official.
Police are trying to ascertain the cause of the fire and probe is on.
India, which is the amid the second wave of the COVID-19, has witnessed several fatal accidents of fire.
Last week, 13 patients died at a private COVID-19 care hospital at Virar, 74 km north of Mumbai, following a fire, while another fire last month at a hospital in Mumbai suburbs saw nine deaths. Enditem
