Pogba’s four-year ban reduced to 18 months by CAS
GENEVA, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) — French football player Paul Pogba’s four-year ban for an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) was cut to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Monday.
The Juventus midfielder filed an appeal against the decision of Italy’s National Anti-Doping Tribunal for committing an ADRV on February 28, 2024. He was punished with a four-year ban commencing on September 11, 2023, and a 5,000 euro fine.

Peru calls up Noriega for World Cup qualifiers
LIMA, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) — Alianza Lima defender Erick Noriega has been called up to Peru’s squad for World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil, the Peruvian football federation said on Monday.
The 22-year-old, who was born in Japan to Peruvian parents, made his international debut in a friendly against Nicaragua in March.
Peru will meet Uruguay in Lima on Friday and Brazil in Brasilia four days later.
