ကြာစွယ်များက တစ် mu (၆၆၇ စတုရန်းမီတာ) လျှင် ယွမ် ၆,၀၀၀ ကျော် အသားတင် အကျိုးအမြတ်ရရှိစေကြောင်း သိရသည်။
လယ်သမားများက ကြာပန်းများ စိုက်ပျိုးခြင်းနှင့် ဝင်ငွေတိုးရန် ကျောက်ပုစွန်ကိုလည်း မွေးမြူရန် ပုံစံတူရေကန်များကို အသုံးပြုလေ့ရှိသည်။

Lotus root harvest: purity and profits for farmers in east China
The blossom of a lotus, which rises out from mud, is a symbol of purity. What’s more, its root is healthy and delicious, making it a hot commodity for farmers in east China. It’s harvest season, so follow us to the ponds of Jiangsu to see how it is dug out from the ground.

Despite the cold weather, farmers are hot and perspiring as they dug lotus roots from the ponds.
The crops brings a net profit of more than 6,000 yuan (884 US dollars) per mu (667 square meters).
Farmers use the same ponds to grow lotus and breed crayfish to increase their income.
In this village alone, lotus ponds cover an area of 8,000 mu (533 hectares).
During harvest season, around 10 tonnes of lotus root can be lifted the mud in a single day.
