GLOBALink | Chinese medical team introduces music therapy of TCM in Namibia

WINDHOEK, June 19 (Xinhua) — The Chinese medical team in Namibia has introduced modern Chinese Medicine Music Therapy (CMMT) to treat local patients, adding to their array of already popular Tradition Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapies.

CMMT employs the theory of five phases and five music scales to analyze and treat mind-body illness.

The Chinese medical team leader Zhou Haijiang said the therapy is conducted for a 20-minute session at the Katutura State Hospital.

The patient lies down comfortably, listening to the music through earphone, while acupuncture is also administered.

The different types of music focus on five types of organs, namely the liver, heart, spleen, lung and kidney.

“Now the problem was muscle pain. (After CMMT treatment,) it was much better and much relaxing. The only difference was the music.”

Zhou said his team integrates the therapy with other TCM techniques to reach the required treatment result.
