Liverpool secures Premier League title as Man City books FA Cup final slot
Liverpool was confirmed as the winner of the 2024-25 Premier League title on Sunday following a comfortable 5-1 win at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo turned the score around in the first half after former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke had put Tottenham ahead in the 12th minute.
Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s fourth goal 20 minutes into the second half to start the celebrations in Anfield, with an own goal making it 5-1.
The club’s 20th league title follows the one it won under Jurgen Klopp in the 2019-20 campaign and comes in Arne Slot’s first season since replacing the popular German last summer.
The win leaves Liverpool with 82 points from 34 matches — 15 more than second-place Arsenal, allowing them to start celebrations with four games still to play this season.
The club’s season has been led by striker Mohamed Salah, with 28 goals, who recently extended his stay at Anfield for another two years. The Egyptian has netted almost a third of their total of 78 while they have also been rock solid in defense, conceding just 32 goals.
