Myanmar to hold World Environment Day ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw
YANGON, June 2 (Xinhua) — Myanmar will hold the commemoration ceremony of the World Environment Day, which falls on June 5, at the Myanmar International Convention Center 2 in Nay Pyi Taw, the state-run media Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) reported on Sunday, citing the Environmental Conservation Department.
The 2024 World Environment Day focuses on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience, the report said.
Director of the Environmental Conservation Department, Marlar Aung expressed in an interview with MRTV that the main purpose of this ceremony is to encourage the public to focus on environmental conservation, recognize environmental damages, and spread knowledge about environmental issues.
Activities for World Environment Day will include showing educational video clips on environmental conservation, hosting a talk show, and displaying posters, distributing pamphlets and awarding the winners of the World Environment Day articles and essays competition to commemorate the occasion, Marlar Aung said.
