Chelsea coach Maresca: Winning Conference League can be starting point
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has praised his players for showing great team spirit following their 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final on Wednesday.
The Italian emphasized that winning the tournament represented a big step in the team’s development. “It can be a starting point for us. To build a winning mentality you need to win games and competitions. The trophy we won tonight is going to make us better in the future,” he said.

Tah signs for Bayern Munich on long-term deal
Bayern Munich has confirmed the signing of German international Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen, as announced by the Bavarians on Thursday.
The 29-year-old center-back has signed a contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2029, bringing an end to long-standing transfer speculation.
Tah will bring experience and leadership to Bayern, after having played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s double-winning 2023-24 campaign, where he played 31 league matches, scored four goals and was a regular captain under Xabi Alonso. In total, Tah made 402 appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions after joining the club from Hamburger SV in 2015.
“This is a new chapter and a great opportunity,” Tah said after completing his medical in Munich. “I’m here to take on responsibility, grow as a player and win trophies with this team. That’s what drives me.”

Di Maria to return to Rosario Central
Argentina’s FIFA World Cup winner Angel Di Maria has reached an agreement to return to his boyhood team Rosario Central, the club announced on Thursday.
The 37-year-old will rejoin the Argentine Primera Division side on a free transfer after his contract with Portuguese outfit Benfica expires in July.
“Our history together has more pages to write. Welcome home,” read a statement issued by the club on social media.
Di Maria began his professional career with Rosario Central in 2005 before signing with Benfica two years later. He had subsequent spells at Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus before returning to Benfica in 2023.
