New world record set at Half Moon Bay’s 50th annual pumpkin weigh-off
A pumpkin farmer from Minnesota won his third champion and 30,000 U.S. dollars of prize money, with a new world record at the 50th Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay on Monday.
With his pumpkin weighing 2,749 pounds (1,247 kilograms), Travis Gienger broke the previous world record set by a grower in Italy who produced a 2,702-pound (1,226-kilogram) squash in 2021, according to Guinness World Records.
