All 39 miners trapped underground rescued in Canada

OTTAWA, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — All the 39 people trapped underground at Vale’s Totten Mine in Sudbury, Canada have been rescued, according to CTV on Wednesday.
It took more than two days to get the 39 miners to the surface. The rescue operation was completed early on Wednesday with the last four miners emerging.
The 39 miners exited the mine with support from two rescue teams through a secondary egress ladder system. All of them are reportedly safe and healthy.

They were stuck underground after an incident occurred that caused damage to the mine shaft around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The shaft is 4,130 feet (about 1,259 meters) below the surface.
When the incident occurred, the 39 miners immediately went to refuge stations and had been in frequent communication with the rescue team on the surface.
Medication and food were brought to the miners after the conveyance for transporting miners was taken offline following the incident.
