Sri Lanka’s inflation increases to 2.4 pct in June

COLOMBO, July 22 (Xinhua) — Sri Lanka’s inflation increased to 2.4 percent in June from 1.6 percent reported in May, according to the national consumer price index, the department of census and statistics said on Monday.
The inflation in the food category which was reported at 0.5 percent in May rose to 1.9 percent in June, according to the department.
In the non-food category, inflation rose from 2.4 percent to 2.7 percent.
Recently, the Asian Development Bank revised the inflation forecast in Sri Lanka for 2024 as supply-side conditions improved alongside better external buffers and the availability of foreign currency.
