Ancelotti: Raphinha among world’s best
Brazil national team manager Carlo Ancelotti has hailed Raphinha as one the best players in the world as the Barcelona forward prepares to return for a World Cup qualifier against Paraguay.
Raphinha is set to start Tuesday’s clash at Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo after missing Brazil’s goalless draw with Ecuador in Guayaquil last Thursday due to suspension.
“It’s great that Raphinha is back,” Ancelotti told a news conference. “He has shown that he is one of the best players in football at the moment.”
Raphinha enjoyed a breakout season in 2024-25 with 34 goals in 57 games across all competitions for Barcelona.
The 28-year-old former Leeds United player has also been a consistent performer at international level and is Brazil’s top scorer in the current qualifying campaign with five goals.

Man City signs defender Ait Nouri from Wolves
Manchester City has completed the signing of Algerian left-back Rayan Ait Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Ait Nouri has agreed a five-year contract after passing a medical over the weekend and will cost City 31 million pounds (42 million U.S. dollars).
“Manchester City is delighted to announce the signing of Rayan Ait Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 24-year-old left-back has penned a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, meaning he will remain at the club until the summer of 2030,” informs the Man City website.
“It was an easy decision. My choice was Manchester City in the beginning – what I said with my family, I want to play for this team – I like how they play. I am very happy to be here – it is a big pleasure for me,” said Ait Nouri.
The defender should give balance to a team that lacked a specialist left-back last season and he becomes the club’s first signing of the summer.
Ait Nouri’s deal has been finalized in time for him to take part in the FIFA Club World Cup, with City’s first match against Moroccan side Wydad AC in Philadelphia on June 18.

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni heaped praise on teenager Franco Mastantuono on Monday ahead of the River Plate midfielder’s expected move to Real Madrid.
The Spanish club has reportedly agreed to a deal worth 45 million U.S. dollars for the 17-year-old, who made his international debut in Argentina’s 1-0 win over Chile in Santiago last Thursday.
“Going to Real Madrid is a huge thing,” Scaloni told a news conference on the eve of Argentina’s home World Cup qualifier against Colombia.

China’s Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen says she is refocusing her efforts on the upcoming grass-court season after defeat in the quarterfinals at the French Open.
Zheng, 22, lost to world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets at Roland Garros on Tuesday.
“I blew so many chances during the match,” recalled Zheng on Sunday, after having triumphed on the same clay court at the Paris Olympics last year. “I did learn a lesson from the defeat. I hope whenever I’m in the same situation again, I can keep calm and control my nerves.”
