Heavy monsoon rain hits Pakistan’s Lahore
LAHORE, Pakistan, July 7 (Xinhua) — Torrential rains have hit Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore, causing loss of human lives and properties.
The heavy rains on Wednesday and Thursday have caused urban flooding and damage to infrastructure in several areas. At least nine people were killed and over 10 others injured during the past 24 hours until July 6, local rescue department has reported, adding that the deceased persons died of electrocution, drowning or being buried in debris as the city witnessed 291 millimeters of rain, a 30-year record in the provincial capital of Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province.Pakistan’s weather agency has predicted heavy rainfall for other parts of the province.
