11 killed in Syrian capital’s shopping mall fire
DAMASCUS, March 1 (Xinhua) — As many as 11 people were killed and seven others wounded when a fire broke out at a shopping mall in the center of the capital Damascus earlier on Tuesday.
The fire gutted the Lamirada mall in Hamra street, one of the most famous marketplaces in Damascus, killing 11 people, state news agency SANA reported.
Some people suffered from breathing difficulty caused by the smoke while the wounded were taken to a city hospital.
The investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, which left huge damage and property losses, according to SANA.
