38,000-tonne railway bridge in east China’s Fujian rotates to position
A 38,000-tonne cable-stayed bridge has successfully rotated to its position in Fujian, east China, on Monday night.
The 221.3-meter-long main bridge rotated 40 degrees clockwise in an unbalanced status to its targeted position in about 40 minutes.
The mega bridge is part of the 277-km Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway.
With a designed speed of 350km/h, the railway will cut travel time between the provincial capital Fuzhou and the tourist attraction Xiamen to within 1 hour.
The railway is scheduled to go into operation in 2022.
