Jordan launches new oil exploration project

AMMAN, March 17 (Xinhua) — Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Thursday launched an oil exploration project at the Sarhan and Jafer field.

He announced during a visit to the field, 170 km south of the town of Azraq, that the project is part of the ministry’s effort to look for opportunities to contribute to local energy resources, according to the ministry’s statement.

Kharabsheh added after finishing the ongoing preparation work, the drilling will be carried out by the National Petroleum Company, and the first well is expected to complete before June. Enditem
