GLOBALink | Cotton factories in China’s Xinjiang go full steam ahead in production

URUMQI, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) — Cotton factories in Manas county, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, are going full throttle on processing cotton.
Boasting 23 cotton factories, the county of Manas is expected to purchase 330,000 tonnes of cotton this year. The county’s cotton harvesting is expected to finish by late October.
Xinjiang is the largest cotton-growing area in China. The region’s cotton output hit 5.16 million tonnes in 2020, accounting for 87.3 percent of the total in the country.
