Indian gov’t issues fresh warning overcrowding danger amid pandemic
NEW DELHI, July 9 (Xinhua) — Indian government Friday said the second wave of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic was not yet over and at the crucial juncture while the cases were mostly going down, the strict adherence to protocol was the need of the hour.
A senior health ministry official Lav Agarwal showed the recent viral video of the Kempty Falls in Uttarakhand’s Mussoorie, where a huge crowd was seen present at the tourist place in violation of COVID-19 protocol.
“Zara sochiye (just think),” Agarwal said during a routine press briefing. “Is it not an open invitation for the COVID-19 virus to infect us? The spread of infection in the community is linked to our behavior.”
The Indian government had described the phenomenon of crowding public places as “revenge travel”. Enditem
