Manchester City keeps pressure on Arsenal in Premier League title race
LONDON, May 10 (Xinhua) — Manchester City kept the pressure on leader Arsenal in the Premier League with a 3-0 win at home to Brentford on Saturday.
The win leaves Pep Guardiola’s side two points behind Arsenal, who visits West Ham United in a vital game for the title and the relegation battle on Sunday.
Jeremy Doku opened the scoring in the 60th minute when he cut inside from the left and scored with a shot into the far corner of the net, and Erling Haaland doubled the lead when he bundled home a ball from the right with 15 minutes left.
Omar Marmoush hit the third goal with an angled shot across the face of goal in injury time.
Liverpool drew 1-1 with Chelsea. Ryan Gravenberch scored in the sixth minute with a curling shot, and Enzo Fernandez equalized for Chelsea from a free kick 10 minutes from halftime.
Chelsea winger Cole Palmer had a goal ruled out for a tight offside early in the second half, while Liverpool hit the woodwork twice.
With the draw, Chelsea ends a six-game losing streak in the league, a week before it plays Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Sunderland and Manchester United drew 0-0 in a game where both sides had chances to score. Manchester United remains third and retains its six-point lead over Liverpool.
Fulham and Bournemouth were both reduced to 10 men, with Ryan Christie sent off for Bournemouth and Joachim Anderson for Fulham.
Rayan continued his excellent recent form to score the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute to give Bournemouth a 1-0 win that keeps its Champions League hopes alive.
Brighton raced into a 2-0 lead at home to bottom side Wolverhampton with goals from Jack Hinshelwood and Lewis Dunk in the first five minutes.
