GLOBALink | China Search and Rescue Team departs Türkiye
ISTANBUL, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) — The China Search and Rescue Team has completed its mission in Türkiye’s earthquake zone, and set out to return to China on Thursday.
Escorted by gendarmerie units, the team departed from Hatay province, which was devastated by earthquakes last week, at 12:30 local time (0930 GMT).
After a two-hour-long journey by road, the team boarded a plane at Adana Airport and flew to China.
The 82-member team arrived in Hatay’s Antakya district on Feb. 8 and immediately started working on the ruins to find survivors. They helped pull six people in total out of the rubble.
At the request of the Turkish government, the China Search and Rescue Team dispatched by the Chinese government, departed from Beijing for Türkiye after the latter was hit by massive earthquakes on Feb. 6.
