GLOBALink | Australia issues “Year of the Tiger” special stamps
Australia, Jan.26 (Xinhua)– As the Lunar Chinese New Year is comming the Australian Post has issued a new set of stamps and coins to celebrate the year of tiger. The lunar Chinese New Year, also called Spring Festival in China is one of the most important traditional festivals celebrated not only in China, but also some other Asia nations. The stamps with very payful images and patterns of symbolic meaning is a popular gift for many Australians to send wishes of good fortune to their family and friends.
“When I research each Zodiac year, I always do a lot of research. So I know that the year of the tiger they’ve very active, courageous, persistent, quite stubborn. So I take that into account But at the same time also look at the wider celebration of the Lunar New Year I also look at the wider celebration of the Lunar New Year and all the symbolis, that comes with that within Chinese and Asian culture. We know in Chinesr culture especially there’s alot of symbolism to do with Lunar New Year. We Know that there’s the mandarins and the kumquats and the endless knots all decorations and the Chinese word”Fu” for fortunes. So I think it’s really important to weave these elements into the design as well. If people see hese designs they don’t need to be Asian or Chinese or any culture to understand them. They just need to enjoy a nice picture, a nice design and then they can find out more about the meaning behind it. And I think they’re quite cute designs, but also quite modern, and quite playfu. And I deliberately made them quite playful and cute because I guess COVID has been around for a few years now And I think it’s been quite depressing for people. So I just wanted to create something that was quite uplifting and makes people smile.”
