Xinhua to strengthen cooperation with UN on humanitarian work
BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) — President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met with Tom Fletcher, UN under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, in Beijing on Friday.
They exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in news reporting and enhancing partnership within multilateral mechanisms.
The two sides stressed the importance of increasing public understanding of the humanitarian cause through media reports, and agreed to deepen cooperation on programs supported by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to advance the international humanitarian cause.
