China Southern Airlines to launch Beijing-Doha direct flights in October
DOHA, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) — China Southern Airlines will launch direct flights between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Doha, the capital of Qatar, starting Oct. 16, the carrier announced Monday.
It will be China Southern’s second direct service to Qatar after the Guangzhou-Doha route. The flights will be operated with Airbus A330-300 aircraft three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, according to the airline.
The carrier will also expand its code-share cooperation with Qatar Airways to cover the new service, Qatar Airways’ major routes between the two countries, and 15 onward connections from Doha to destinations in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
“Together with Qatar Airways, we are expanding opportunities for Chinese passengers to reach destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas through Doha,” said Han Wensheng, president and CEO of China Southern Airlines.
Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori said the service would “further improve the connectivity between the two countries” and provide Chinese travelers with convenient access to Qatar Airways’ global network.
The two airlines also plan to deepen cooperation in areas such as cargo and loyalty programs, aiming to build sustainable partnerships that benefit passengers worldwide. ■
