Myanmar’s manufacturing sector attracts over 245 mln USD in 2025-2026 FY
YANGON, April 28 (Xinhua) — Myanmar’s manufacturing sector attracted over 245 million U.S. dollars in foreign direct investment in the fiscal year 2025-2026 (April 1 last year to March 31 this year), the state-owned daily The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Tuesday.
The report, citing the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA), said that this marks a sharp rise compared to 182.6 million U.S. dollars recorded in the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
The country’s garment enterprises operate under the Cutting, Making, and Packaging (CMP) system, the report said.
China, European Union member countries, Japan, South Korea and the United States place garment orders with Myanmar, it said, adding that Chinese companies have primarily invested in the manufacturing sector.
Myanmar’s garment sector plays a pivotal role in the country’s economic development, it said. Enditem
