Liverpool hits six in Spurs goal fest in Premier League
Liverpool extended its lead at the top of the Premier League on Sunday after a thrilling 6-3 win away to Tottenham at the Tottenham Stadium.
Tottenham’s erratic defensive displays always promised to make an entertaining match, and it proved with Luis Diaz nodding Liverpool ahead after 23 minutes, with Alexis Mac Allister doubling the lead in the 36th minute.
A poor pass out of defense from goalkeeper Alisson Becker gave James Maddison the chance to get Spurs back into the match, but Mohamed Salah set up Dominik Szoboszlai to make it 3-1 in injury time before scoring two goals himself after the break to apparently seal the game.
Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke gave Tottenham brief hope with goals after 72 and 83 minutes, but Diaz’s second goal of the match made an incredible game 6-3.

Atletico Madrid goes top, Real moves second in last La Liga round of 2024
Atletico Madrid ends the year as leader in La Liga after Alexander Sorloth’s left-foot finish in the sixth minute of injury time saw it win 2-1 away to FC Barcelona.
Real Madrid also moved above Barcelona and end the year in second place after a 4-2 win at home to Sevilla.
Madrid came out of the blocks much faster than Sevilla and went ahead in the 10th minute through Kylian Mbappe’s excellent goal from the edge of the area, with Federico Valverde doubling the lead 10 minutes later with another long-range effort.
Rodrygo made it 3-0 after a good pullback from the right in the 34th minute and although Isaac Romero pulled a goal back a minute later, Brahim Diaz assured the win eight minutes after halftime. Dodi Lukebakio netted Sevilla’s second goal in the closing minutes.

Brazil’s Fonseca wins Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah
Brazil’s Joao Fonseca claimed the Next Gen ATP Finals title in Jeddah on Sunday.
Fonseca, 18, delivered a perfect week to lift the trophy at the season-ending event for the best players aged 20 and under. He rallied past American Learner Tien 2-4, 4-3 (8), 4-0, 4-2 in the championship match at King Abdullah Sports City, becoming the second-youngest winner in the event’s history.
