Chinese rescuers work tirelessly to search for survivors in Türkiye
STANDUP (English): WANG FENG, Xinhua correspondent
“China’s search and rescue team has been working tirelessly to save lives since they arrived in Türkiye on Feb. 8. The 82-member team has rescued six people from the ruins of the buildings in the worst-hit region of Antakya, a district of the southern Hatay province.
Accompanied by search and rescue dogs, along with well-equipped tools and machines, the team members worked around the clock with outstanding dedication, looking for the sign of life beneath tons of steel and concrete.”
Chinese and foreign rescue teams shout out to the ruins, hoping to find more survivors as chances for survival are diminishing.
“I’m counting. One! Two! Three!”
“Anybody there? Anybody there? Anybody there?”
At least 35,418 people have been killed by the powerful earthquakes in Türkiye.
A total of 105,505 people were injured in the tremors.
Over 8,000 people were rescued from the rubble.
At least 47,000 buildings were severely damaged in the quake-hit zone, which is home to nearly 13 million people.
