Xinhua president meets Arab League chief
CAIRO, May 12 (Xinhua) — President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met here on Tuesday with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, secretary-general of the League of Arab States.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Arab states, Fu said, noting that over the past seven decades, Xinhua has faithfully documented Arab states’ development journey in pursuing national self-strengthening and seeking independence and autonomy, while also bearing witness to the long-standing history of friendly exchanges between the two sides.
Xinhua stands ready to establish a regular exchange mechanism with the League of Arab States, strengthen media cooperation with Arab states, provide intellectual support for enhancing the international discourse power of the Arab world and the Global South, and join hands with the League of Arab States to amplify the voice of the Global South for fairness, justice, solidarity, and self-strengthening, he added.
Highlighting China’s remarkable development achievements over the years, Gheit, for his part, noted that Arab and Chinese media outlets and think tanks are important bridges for communication between the two peoples.
He expressed hope that the two sides can strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, so as to continuously deepen and consolidate Arab-China friendship and cooperation.
